UAAP 78: Jeron Teng scores 20 as La Salle defeat UE 72-64

De La Salle University (DLSU) turned back University of the East (UE), 72-64, in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament to claim solo third at the Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Chis Javier and the Red Warriors were coming off a 52-47 win over defending champions National University (NU) Bulldogs over the weekend before clashing with the Green Archers.
Thomas Torres had 15 points for La Salle, which also got nine from Larry Muyang. Prince Rivero and Josh Torralba provided added boost with eight points each.

Jeron Teng and Torres led the Archers’ strong buildup in the first half where they led by as much as 13 points.

The Warriors were able to trim the lead to five points after Emil Palma’s triple. But the Archers managed to keep afloat and clinch their fifth win in nine games.

UE, which was seeking back-to-back wins, fell to 3-6.
