UAAP Season 78 Men's Basketball First Round Schedule Revealed

ABS-CBN Sports on Monday unveiled the schedule of the first round of the UAAP Season 78 men's basketball tournament, along with the UAAP Cheer Dance Competition.

The UAAP Cheer Dance Competition will be held on October 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena, ahead of the first round showdown between traditional rivals Ateneo de Manila University and De La Salle University, which is scheduled for October 4, also at the MOA Arena.

UAAP 77: FEU beats La Salle to earn twice-to-beat edge

Far Eastern University Tamaraws took the headstart in their virtual best-of-three duel against De La Salle Green Archers at the Mall of Asia Arena Sunday evening.

With the 65-60 victory, FEU clinched the second spot in the UAAP Season 77 Final Four to gain the twice-to-beat bonus in the playoffs opposite La Salle.

MVP Kiefer Ravena, Jeron Teng, Belo, Newsome, Abdul named UAAP 77 Mythical team

ATENEO star Kiefer Ravena was officially proclaimed MVP of Season 77 of the UAAP men's basketball tournament on Wednesday - another high point in what has so far been a bounce-back season for the Blue Eagles. 

Ravena totalled 77.6429 points in the statistical rankings released by the league's stats provider Imperium Technology and Smart Bro to bag his first league MVP award, a confidence boost for the third-year guard heading to the Final Four where the Blue Eagles will be the top seed.

UAAP Season 77 Men's Seniors Basketball: UAAP commissioner Andy Jao has upheld Ateneo's 68-64 overtime victory over Far Eastern University last Saturday.

UAAP 77: FEU protests their costly defeat to Ateneo

Far Eastern University (FEU) has put under protest its costly loss to the Ateneo Blue Eagles in their second-round game of the UAAP Season 77 men's basketball tournament last September 13.

The Tamaraws lost to the Blue Eagles, 64-68, in overtime, allowing Ateneo to seal the top spot and earn a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four, while sending FEU into a virtual best-of-three series against defending champion De La Salle University.

FEU star Terrence Romeo applies for 2013 PBA Rookie draft

Despite promising to return to the Tamaraws next season, Far Eastern University’s superstar guard Terrence Romeo has decided to turn professional instead, as he beat Friday’s deadline for this year’s Philippine Basketball Association rookie draft.

After FEU’s season ended when they were defeated by the De La Salle Green Archers in the Final Four, Romeo vowed to return to school next year to play in his final season for the Tamaraws and shot down the idea of turning pro.

RR Garcia to join 2013 PBA Rookie Draft; resigns from Gilas team

The coming PBA rookie draft just got more interesting. This after former Far Eastern University star and UAAP Most Valuable Player RR Garcia decided to forego his last year with the Gilas cadet pool to join a draft pool where he is expected to be the top guard prospect.

Garcia said he has already secured a release from Gilas head coach Chot Reyes as well as the permission of his D-League team NLEX through manager Ronald Dulatre.

Accompanied by FEU coach Nash Racela, Garcia asked for his release which Reyes did not hesitate to grant.

Terrence Romeo on 'wet scene' with Jeron Teng: "Pawis lang po yun"

UAAP season 76 MVP Terrence Romeo explained his side after his "shake hand" video went viral. 
The Far Eastern University combo guard said that he just wanted to distract Jeron Teng before taking free throws during their knockout match for the twice-to-beat advantage after the eliminations.

Far Eastern University (FEU) guard Terrence Romeo received his UAAP Most Valuable Player (MVP) award during the special awarding ceremony shortly before Finals Game 2 between University of Sto. Tomas and De la Salle University (DLSU).
Romeo, who led the Tamaraws to a 10-4 record at the end of the elimination round, collected 75.2857 statistical points (SPs) over the course of the season.

La Salle advances to UAAP 76 Finals; beats FEU (VIDEO)

The De La Salle Green Archers became the first team to book a seat in the UAAP Season 76 finals after surviving a tight contest with FEU, 71-68, to win their final four matchup Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

La Salle, which advanced to the title series for the first time since 2008, is playing its best basketball at just the right time and will be entering the finals on a nine-game unbeaten streak.

They swept the second round of the elimination round and defeated FEU in back-to-back playoff games to enter the finals.

UAAP 76: La Salle outlasts FEU to clinch twice-to-beat advantage

De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers controlled the game from start to finish to beat Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, 74-69, and move one win away from the UAAP 76 men's basketball finals on Saturday, September 21 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Green Archers went on a 9-0 run in the first quarter to take the driver's seat and never let it go, as the Taft-based squad scored its 8th straight win and pulled ahead, 1-0, in a virtual best-of-three for the second finals slot.

FEU's Terrence Romeo named UAAP 76 MVP; beats Bobby Ray Parks

Far Eastern University’s star guard Terrence Romeo is the Most Valuable Player of the UAAP Season 76 tournament, beating out National University forward Bobby Ray Parks for the league’s top individual award.

Romeo, who led the Tamaraws to a 10-4 record, collected 75.2857 statistical points (SPs) over the course of the season. He averaged a league-high of 22.2 points per game to go along with 6.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

UAAP Cheerdance Competition 2013 - All Schools Performance VIDEO

The National University Bulldogs Pep Squad won the UAAP Cheerdance Competition title on Sunday, wowing the judges with a flawless routine inspired by Aladdin for 696.5 points.


Boasting of an aggressive recruitment program, NU completed its climb to the top after making its first podium appearance last year, when its finished third. Two seasons ago, the Bulldogs Pep Squad finished sixth in the competition.

De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers created a three-way logjam at the top of the UAAP standings via a 69-64 win over University of Ssto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers at the tournament’s penultimate match on Saturday.

UAAP 76: Men's Basketball Final Four possible scenarios

The men's basketball action for UAAP Season 76 is down to its final two playdates but the Final Four picture is not yet set as two teams are still fighting for the last twice-to-beat advantage, while two other teams are still knocking on the semis doors.

Terrence Romeo sets 33 points career-high. (FEU vs UP Replay Video)

Terrence Romeo set a new career-high with 33 points as the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws closed out their UAAP Season 76 elimination round campaign with a 87-69 rout of the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Tamaraws, who swept the first round of the tournament, wrapped up the elimination round with a 10-4 record and are assured of at least a playoff for the twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 76 men's basketball tournament. (see the latest full rankings here)
