PBA: KIA Sorento vs Rain or Shine - October 29, 2014 FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO

RAIN or Shine is steadily recovering the lethal form that carried it to two finals the previous season and in the last two Philippine Cups.The Elasto Painters displayed this by carving a methodical 117-88 manhandling of hapless Kia Wednesday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Paul Lee showed no ill effects of the hyperextended knee he suffered right in Rain or Shine’s first game as he came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points while five teammates submitted at least 10 points each.

‘Kasi Paul Lee siya’: Lee’s camp confirms PBA trade request

Paul Lee has clearly established himself as one of the best point guards – if not the best – in the PBA today.

That’s why Lawrence Chongson, his manager, remains in no rush to sign the maximum contract offered to him by Lee’s mother team, Rain or Shine.

“Hindi naman sa pagmamalaki, eh kasi Paul Lee siya eh,” Chongson told InterAksyon in a telephone interview.

Rain or Shine set to replace import Alex McLean to Wayne Chism

With their campaign in the PLDT Home TVolution Commissioner’s Cup threatening to go astray, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters have hit the panic button by making an import change.

Team executive Mamerto Mondragon confirmed to InterAksyon that the Elasto Painters are bringing in Wayne Chism to replace the incumbent Alex McLean.

With McLean in the lineup, the Philippine Cup runners-up have stumbled to a 1-3 start with just five matches remaining in the elimination round of the current tournament.

The San Mig Super Coffee Mixers closed out the gritty Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in Game Six, 93-87, to win the PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup. Third-year guard Mark Barroca scored 24 points, including 10 of the Mixers’ final 12 points, while rookie Ian Sangalang added 15 points to lead San Mig Coffee. The championship gives San Mig Coffee coach Tim Cone a record 16th PBA title, pushing him past the legendary Baby Dalupan in the league’s all time list.

PBA to fine Rain or Shine P2 Million for near-walkout (VIDEO)

“Pinagbabayad kami ng PBA ng P2 million.” Rain or Shine team owner Terry Que made this disclosure after his team’s Game Six defeat in the PLDT Home DSL Philippine Cup finals against the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers that saw the Elasto Painters threaten to walk out of the game.
After a foul call on Rain or Shine center JR Quinahan at the 11:39 mark of the second quarter, Elasto Painters coach Yeng Guiao led his team off the court and back into the locker room.

San Mig Coffee, TNT, Rain or Shine are coach Chot's top pick

All eyes may be on crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra, which has made vast improvements to its lineup, but former PBA coach Chot Reyes believes 3 other teams are more dangerous than the Gin Kings.

The current Gilas Pilipinas coach said among those teams that are likely to dominate the coming PBA Philippine Cup are Talk ‘N Text, Rain or Shine, and San Mig Coffee.

“Sa akin, lamang pa rin yong matagal ng magkakasama. There’s Talk n Text and Rain or Shine. San Mig is always tough with coach Tim Cone,” said Reyes in the PBA website.

PBA Finals Game 7 today; Petron vs San Mig Coffee

The 2013 season of the PBA is down to an ultimate match for all the marbles. Petron Blaze and San Mig Coffee dispute the Governors’ Cup in Game Seven on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum, with each team looking to complete unfinished business.

The Boosters, who forced a deciding match after winning Game Six last Wednesday, are trying to get back the crown they won in the 2011 edition. That was the last finals appearance as well as the last title for the league’s oldest and winningest franchise.

Former PBA Best Import Jamelle Cornley lands in jail again

Former PBA import Jamelle Cornley is back in hot water, landing in jail on Wednesday after being accused of trying to kill his Filipina girlfriend.

According to Inspector Edith Castro, head of the Women and Children Protection Desk of the Quezon City Police District, Cornley is currently detained at Camp Karingal while facing frustrated homicide charges.

Cornley, a winner of the PBA’s Best Import award last season while playing for Rain or Shine, was arrested by police at around 4 p.m. inside Athens Capital Tower condominium.

Beau Belga turns down Rain or Shine three-year offer

RAIN or Shine veteran enter Beau Belga’s status with the E-Painters remain uncertain after he turned down the team’s three-year counter offer during their meeting on Monday morning.

Accompanied by his agent Dany Espiritu, the 6-6 wide-bodied slotman stood firm on his demand for a three-year contract extension with the league maximum of P420,000 a month, amounting to P15.12 million.

Rain or Shine management open to trade Beau Belga

Management of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters is still trying to secure a new deal with starting center Beau Belga, but is open to making a trade if they could not agree to terms on a new contract.

“Kung masyadong malaki yung hihingin niya baka hindi namin kayanin,” Rain or Shine team executive Mamerto Mondragon told InterAKTV in an exclusive interview.

Belga helped the Elasto Painters win the Governors’ Cup in 2012 and finish runner-up in the 2013 Philippine Cup. His status as one of the top big men in the PBA was underscored when he was selected to be part of the Gilas Pilipinas national pool, ending up as the last man cut from the team that competed in the FIBA Asia Championship.

The Petron Blaze Boosters rained down three-pointers on Rain or Shine for a blistering 110-89 victory on Monday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum to make their return to the finals of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

“We’re living the dream,” said Petron coach Gee Abanilla. “This is a very good opportunity for us.”

Elijah Millsap broke out of his two-game slump to score 34 points, Marcio Lassiter added 27, while Alex Cabagnot had 23 for Petron, which wrapped up the semifinals series, 3-1.

Petron sizzled from beyond the arc, making 14-of-27 three-pointers for a 51.9 percent clip.

Rain or Shine beats Petron in PBA Semis Game 3 (REPLAY VIDEO)

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters weren’t about ready to give up their Governors’ Cup crown just yet.

The defending champions rallied back from a nine-point fourth quarter deficit for a 92-87 victory over the Petron Blaze Boosters in Game Three of their best-of-five semifinals series.

“We just avoided the embarrassment of being swept,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao, who didn’t arrive at the game until the second quarter after being stuck in traffic on the way to the venue.

Petron wins vs Rain or Shine on PBA Semis Game 2 (REPLAY VIDEO)

June Mar Fajardo dominated down low, finishing with a career-high 26 points and 14 rebounds to carry the Petron Blaze Boosters to a pulsating 90-88 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in Game Two of their Governors’ Cup semifinals series on Wednesday at Cuneta Astrodome.

The rookie big man from Cebu scored 14 points, including three dunks, in the third quarter, allowing the Boosters to take command against the shorthanded Elasto Painters.

Petron was still up by nine points, 89-80, with less than two minutes left before Rain or Shine came roaring back. The Elasto Painters were within a single point after a putback by Beau Belga with 7.7 seconds left.

Petron defeats Rain or Shine on PBA Semis Game 1 (REPLAY VIDEO)

Elijah Millsap scored 41 points, including 11 straight during a stretch in the fourth quarter, to carry the Petron Blaze Boosters to a 91-83 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Monday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The win gave the Boosters a 1-0 lead in their best-of-five Governors’ Cup finals series.

“I think he bailed us out tonight,” said Petron coach Gee Abanilla on Millsap, who added 14 rebounds.

PBA throws out Rain or Shine protest; Ginebra win stands

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s controversial victory over Rain or Shine on Saturday night will stand after the PBA threw out the Elasto Painters’ protest.

League commissioner Chito Salud addressed the issue on Sunday, saying Rain or Shine management failed to file the protest before the 12 noon deadline, deeming it invalid.

“The result of the Ginebra-Rain or Shine game stands,” said Salud.
