Janet Lim-Napoles surrenders to President Aquino

BREAKING: Fugitive businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles is finally in government custody Wednesday after weeks of evading arrest, her lawyer said.


Napoles, who is wanted for serious illegal detention, is now with President Benigno Aquino, Atty. Lorna Kapunan told ABS-CBN News.

The Palace confirmed Napoles' surrender.

The Philippines has protested China's recent publication of a new "10-dash line" map that places sprawling offshore territories it claims within Beijing's "national boundaries," officials said Friday.

SONA 2013 Live Streaming, Full Speech Transcript

President Benigno 'Noynoy' Aquino III (PNoy) will deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) from Batasang Pambansa Complex in Batasan Hills, Quezon City on July 22, 2013, and livestream and full text of the address will be made available here.


The Constitution mandates the President to deliver the SONA annually on every fourth Monday of July. In the speech, PNoy is expected to lay down all his achievements as head of the state in his 3 years of tenure and his programs for the country in the remaining half of his term.

Philippines told China: Don’t tell us what to do within our territory

No other country could tell the Philippines what it can and cannot do within its territory.


Its message getting sharper, the Philippines told China, on Thursday, to keep its hands off the country’s sovereign affairs in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea) after Chinese Ambassador Ma Keqing expressed concerns that the country might be building more structures in the Ayungin Shoal.

9-3 win for Team PNoy in Senatorial race 2013

The proclamation of 3 new senators completed the victory of the administration ticket on Saturday, May 18, in midterm elections seen as a referendum on the President and a preview of the 2016 presidential elections.

The national board of canvassers (NBOC) on Saturday proclaimed Cynthia Villar, JV Ejercito, and Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan as Philippine senators. The Commission on Elections is postponing Wednesday's proclamation of winners in the May 2013 senatorial election due to delays in the canvassing of votes. 


Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said he has already informed the 2 top senatorial candidates in the partial count that "they will not be expecting any proclamation tonight."

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will not vote on May 13

Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will not be voting for her chosen senators and local officials, much less for herself, on May 13.


Arroyo, who is seeking a second term as representative of Pampanga's second congressional district, did not seek permission from the court to be allowed out of hospital detention to vote in her home province, her spokesperson Elena Bautista-Horn said.

During a press conference held Monday for his upcoming solo concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on May 17, the "It's Showtime" host mentioned the name of Vice-President Jejomar Binay's daughter when asked if he has any plans to pursue a career in public service.

"Gusto ko president ako agad," Vice Ganda said in jest, "'Yung wala kang background, pero mataas agad, parang 'yung mga pulitiko lang ngayon. Walang background, pero senador agad."

Barack Obama re-elected as US President; Beats Mitt Romney

WASHINGTON –  US President Barack Obama swept to re-election Tuesday, creating history again by defying the undertow of a slow economic recovery and high unemployment to beat Republican foe Mitt Romney.


Obama became only the second Democrat to win a second four-year White House term since World War II, when television networks projected he would win the bellwether state of Ohio where he had staged a pitched battle with Romney.

Sotto On Removing Libel From Cybercrime Law: “The President is not against it, why will I go against it”



MANILA, Philippines - Senate Majority Leader Vicente Sotto III filed and later withdrew a bill seeking to abolish the much-assailed libel provision in Cybercrime Prevention Act - in deference, supposedly, to the sentiments of President Aquino.

Sotto said he filed a bill last Friday to remove libel from the Cybercrime law, but when he heard the statement of President Benigno Aquino III on the said provision, he opted to withdraw the measure.
