UAAP 78: Jeron Teng scores 20 as La Salle defeat UE 72-64

De La Salle University (DLSU) turned back University of the East (UE), 72-64, in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament to claim solo third at the Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday.

Chis Javier and the Red Warriors were coming off a 52-47 win over defending champions National University (NU) Bulldogs over the weekend before clashing with the Green Archers.

Ateneo fights back; claims UE violated UAAP rule too

Defending UAAP basketball champions Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles are set to submit to the league board a letter asking for an investigation on a possible violation committed by suspended UE Red Warrior Ralf Olivares during Sunday's game between the two teams.

UE questions the presence of banned Ateneo coach Perasol in venue

The UE Red Warriors are seeking clarification of the rules on suspensions after a possible violation surfaced that could result in Ateneo’s forfeiture of their 77-72 win last Sunday.


Ateneo coach Bo Perasol, who was out serving a one-game suspension for his encounter with a La Salle fan last week, was spotted inside the Mall of Asia Arena during the game, despite a UAAP rule stating that “the presence of a suspended coach, manager, assistant manager, statistician, scorers, masseurs, etc. and those listed as members of the team shall not be allowed in the bench or venue during the period of suspension.”

The locker room of the UE Red Warriors was like a morgue. Minutes after being eliminated from Final Four contention by Ateneo, the men in red and white forlornly filed inside where they could let out their emotions.

Ralf Olivares, unable to suit up as he served out the last game of his suspension, was beside himself. He sobbed uncontrollably at being both unable to help his team while regretting his actions that led to his suspension.

The defending champion Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles proved steady down the stretch as they downed UE Red Warriors, 77-72, to eliminate the Red Warriors from the UAAP Season 76 final four race Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Blue Eagles had to stave off a late rally from the Red Warriors and took advantage of the absence of Roi Sumang in the last two minutes to emerge with their seventh win of the season.

UAAP Season 75: NU Bulldogs & FEU Tamaraws Victorious On Their Opening Games



The UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) opened its Season 75 with a theme of “Unbreakable 75” at the newly-built state-of-the-art Mall of Asia Arena yesterday, July 14, 2012 Saturday. This season’s host is the National University.

 The opening games are between National University (NU) Bulldogs vs. the University of the East (UE) Red Warriors and University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers vs. Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws. 

 NU Bulldogs was the one who’s controlling the game between UE Red Warriors. They defeated UE with a very wide margin, 90-55.

Meanwhile in the 2nd game, The Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws was hailed victorious after they defeated the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers 73-72.
