Gilas Pilipinas suffered its second defeat at the 2015 William Jones Cup after bowing to a more consistent Iranian team at the Xinchuang Gymnasium in Taiwan Thursday.
Iran’s star player Hamed Haddadi dominated once again to steer his team past the Philippine squad, 74-65. The Iranian big man finished with 22 points.

Gilas Pilipinas falls short against Iran in Jones Cup 2015
The Gilas Pilipinas, Philippine men’s national basketball team, dropped to 3-2 in their 37th William Jones Cup campaign after falling to their rivals from Iran, 74-65, on Thursday, September 3, at the Xinchuang Gymnasium in Taipei.
Ageless veteran Asi Taulava led the Filipinos with 12 points and eight rebounds while also doing a fine job against Iran star Hamed Haddadi who still managed to score 22 points and 15 boards.

LA Lakers allow Jordan Clarkson for Gilas Pilipinas but with one condition
The Los Angeles Lakers will release Filipino-American NBA player Jordan Clarkson to the Philippine national men’s basketball team for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship later this month.
However there’s one catch: the Lakers want Clarkson back before September 28, or right before their annual media day and training camp. That is right at the middle of the Olympic qualifier, meaning Gilas Pilipinas will only have him at the start of the tournament.

Gilas Pilipinas routs Japan 75-60 in Jones Cup 2015 (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
The Gilas Pilipinas, Philippine national men’s basketball team, thanks to a huge fourth quarter effort from Moala Tautuaa and some sharp outside shooting from its gunners, cruised to a huge 75-60 victory over Japan to move up the 37th William Jones Cup standings on Wednesday at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
