Kobe Bryant will miss Lakers’ final two NBA pre-season due to sore foot

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Lakers superstar guard Kobe Bryant will miss the team’s final two pre-season NBA games because of a sore right foot, the team announced on Wednesday.

Bryant hurt his foot in the third quarter of a loss Sunday to Sacramento and will be re-examined this weekend by doctors ahead of next Tuesday’s NBA season opener, when the Lakers play host to the Dallas Mavericks.

The Lakers have their first six pre-season games and finish their pre-season exhibition schedule with games against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday and Sacramento on Thursday.

Bryant, 34, was a member of the US Olympic gold medal squads at the 2008 Beijing Games and this year’s London Games.

He has also won five NBA titles with the Lakers and was named the NBA Finals’ Most Valuable Player in 2009 and again in 2010, when he sparked Los Angeles to the league crown.
