Anderson Silva: "I no respect Floyd Mayweather Jr."

Former middleweight champion Anderson Silva said he has no respect for undefeated American boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Anderson Silva vs Floyd Mayweather Jr.

“Mayweather is a good boxer. But he talks too much. The guy no respect me,” the Brazilian mixed martial artist said in an interview with DJ Sway Calloway at Sirius XM Radio.

Silva is a future MMA hall of famer who enjoyed a 17-win streak in the UFC before losing his middleweight title to Chris Weidman last July.

He said he has long followed boxing, citing Roy Jones, Oscar de la Hoya and Muhammad Ali as some of his favorite fighters.

“Boxing is a great sport. My dad boxed for a long time in Brazil,’ said Silva.

But he was apparently offended when Mayweather claimed that he did not know the UFC superstar.

“This guy no respect nothing so I no respect Mayweather,” said Silva.

In an interview with Fight Hype, Mayweather said he doesn’t know any athlete who can be compared to him in terms of greatness.

"I don't know that guy,” was his answer when asked about Silva. “Tell me, he's been at the top for 17 years? Seventeen? Half a decade more to go, then talk to me."

Mayweather was apparently referring to his 17-year unbeaten run compared to Silva’s 7 years in the UFC.
