JORDAN VS JAPAN - FINAL: Jordan 65-56 Japan
The Jordan national team survived to live another day in the 27th FIBA-Asia Championship after cruising past hot shooting Japan, 65-56, at the Mall of Asia Arena.
More importantly, the victory gave Jordan the last quarter finals berth in Group E to join idle leader Chinese Taipei, Philippines, and Qatar.
IRAN VS KAZAKHSTAN - FINAL: Iran 85-53 Kazakhstan
Iran continued to showcase dominant form in the FIBA Asia Championship, completing its group campaign with an easy 85-53 victory over Kazakhstan on Wednesday.
Hamed Haddadi finished with 16 points and nine rebounds for Iran, which went undefeated in the first two rounds of the tournament to top Group F. The two-time Asian champions have not won by less than 11 points in its six wins in the competition.
CHINESE TAIPEI VS QATAR - (watch Chinese Taipei vs Qatar Full Game replay Video)
Qatar dealt Chinese Taipei its first loss of the tournament, 71-68, on Wednesday in a thriller at the Mall of Asia Arena that had major implications in the FIBA Asia Championship playoffs.
With the victory, Qatar and Chinese Taipei finished tied at first place in Group E with a 4-1 win-loss record. The Philippines can forge a three-way tie for the top seed with a win in the evening over minnow Hong Kong.
CHINA VS BAHRAIN - FINAL: China 88-66 Bahrain
China welcomed back star big man Yi Jianlian in the lineup before dismantling Bahrain, 88-66, in their final match in Group F.
Yi, who missed the last four games while reportedly nursing a groin injury, scored 12 points in just 13 minutes on the floor. He helped China to a 21-5 start after the first period. But the young Chinese lineup floundered again in the second half, getting visibly out-hustled by the much smaller Bahrainis.
The victory sealed China’s place as the third seed in its group after the first two rounds. The team will likely match up with Chinese Taipei in the knockout quarterfinals on Friday if the Philippines wins its final assignment on Wednesday against Hong Kong, a result that will relegate the Taiwanese to second place in Group E.
