Barangay Ginebra San Miguel fans should expect LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar to immediately join the team when they begin their campaign in the upcoming PBA Governors’ Cup.
Fresh from their stint in the recently concluded 27th FIBA Asia Championship -- where they helped the Philippines notch a seat in the 2014 FIBA World Cup -- the two Ginebra cagers vowed to suit up when the team clashes with the Petron Blaze Boosters on Sunday. (PBA Live Streaming here)
“Nandun ako. Yun eh kung paglalaruin kami,” laughed Tenorio when reached by Solar Sports Desk.
“Bukas, kakausapin ko sila. Pupunta ko sa tune-up nila sa Alaska. Pupunta kami ni Japeth para malaman kung ano ang timeline ng practice,” said Tenorio, who expressed willingness to re-join teammates in practice on Thursday or Friday.
Tenorio even shared how his Gilas-Pilipinas teammate and Ginebra’s newest recruit Japeth Aguilar is aching to play for the crowd-favorite squad.
“Excited na si Japeth. Kaya alam ko ayaw niyang mawala sa first game namin,” said Tenorio.
Both Tenorio and Aguilar have the privilege of resting their war-torn bodies after a tedious stint with the national team the last two and half months.
“Hindi na kami magpapahinga. Saka na. Lalaro na kami agad. Hindi naman kami bugbog. Basta pag pwede na kami sumali sa practice. Sali na kami agad,” Tenorio stressed.
“Ito kasi ang trabaho ko eh. Tapos na ang obligasyon natin sa bansa -- so trabaho naman ulit,” he said. “Walang time para magpahinga pag may laro ang team.
The two popular Ginebra cagers are also expected to become a part of the Spain-bound World Championship team after the Philippines won a silver in the last FIBA Asia joust.
