If Manny Pacquiao is fine, he won't have any problem beating Brandon Rios, according to the Filipino boxer's former strength and conditioning coach.
Justin Fortune, who has worked with Pacquiao in the past, said the only concern the fighting congressman would have to address is his recent knockout loss.
Fortune said that if Pacquiao doesn’t show any ill effects of his knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez eight months ago, Rios will be in big trouble.
“If the knockout didn’t affect Manny, he will destroy Rios,” Fortune told Boxing Scene’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
However, the boxing coach said Pacquiao would have to look out for Rios' dirty tactics.
“[Rios] is a dirty fighter who uses his elbows,” claimed Fortune.
He said this is the reason why Rios is successful while fighting close-quarters with his opponents.
The Mexican-American lost only one of his 33 professional fights and this was via a decision to Mike Alvarado.
“[Rios] will come right on top of Manny and if Manny doesn’t have room to punch he’ll have a problem,” said Fortune.
