Far Eastern University’s star guard Terrence Romeo is the Most Valuable Player of the UAAP Season 76 tournament, beating out National University forward Bobby Ray Parks for the league’s top individual award.
Romeo, who led the Tamaraws to a 10-4 record, collected 75.2857 statistical points (SPs) over the course of the season. He averaged a league-high of 22.2 points per game to go along with 6.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists.
Parks, who won the MVP award in the previous two seasons, collected 73.8571 SPs and averaged 18.3 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
Parks actually came in third in the overall SPs list after University of the East center Charles Mammie. The big man from Sierra Leone tallied 75.0 SPs and normed 15.1 points and 19.0 rebounds per game, but was disqualified from receiving awards due to suspension.
University of Santo Tomas center Karim Abdul instead finished third in the MVP race with 70.9286 SPs. He was followed by UE guard Roi Sumang, who got 64.0 SPs. NU center Emmanuel Mbe got 63.5714 SPs.
Based on the statistical points, Abdul, Sumang and Mbe will likely join Romeo and Parks in the Mythical Five.
A source told ABS-CBNnews.com that this is not yet final, however, as the UAAP Board is still deciding if they will allow two foreigners to be featured in the league’s Mythical team.
Should Mbe be ineligible for the honor, La Salle forward Jason Perkins will take his place. Perkins collected 58.500 SPs this season.
