WBC President hopes Mayweather-Alvarez winner faces Manny Pacquiao

WBC President Jose Sulaiman hopes Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao will get to fight the victor between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez who are set to battle on September 14.

The WBC junior middleweight crown will be one of the two titles at stake in the Mayweather-Canelo fight which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. Also up for grabs is the WBA Super World junior middleweight belt.

“I sincerely hope that the winner will meet Manny Pacquiao,” said Sulaiman in Ronnie Nathanielsz’s report to the Manila Standard.

“Manny is my idol, whatever happens I will always feel very, very proud of him as he was a WBC champion and I still believe that he is.”

For that to happen, however, Pacquiao will first have to beat Brandon Rios on November 24.

The bout, which will serve as the Filipino boxer’s comeback fight since his loss to Juan Manuel Marquez, will be staged at The Venetian in Macau.
