Arwind Santos named Best Player; Marqus Blakely is Best Import

Petron’s Arwind Santos was named the Best Player of the 2013 PBA Governors Cup, beating out two of his teammates for the award given out Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena prior to Game 2 of the Finals.
Santos edged teammates June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot, Ginebra playmaker LA Tenorio and GlobalPort forward Jay Washington for the award.

Santos accumulated 1,202 points after acquiring 409 points from statistics, 556 points from the media, 87 votes from the players, and 150 votes from the PBA.

Fajardo came in a distant second with a total of 777 points, followed by Cabagnot with 558 points. Tenorio came in fourth with 457 points, and Washington accumulated 388 points.

It was Santos’ second time to win the Best Player of the Conference award, having won the honor in the same conference in 2011.

Meanwhile, San Mig Coffee’s Marqus Blakely was named the Best Import of the Conference.

Blakely finished with 1,322 points, beating out Petron’s Elijah Millsap, Rain or Shine’s Arizona Reid, and Meralco’s Mario West for the honor.
