UAAP season 76 MVP Terrence Romeo explained his side after his "shake hand" video went viral.
The Far Eastern University combo guard said that he just wanted to distract Jeron Teng before taking free throws during their knockout match for the twice-to-beat advantage after the eliminations.
"Alam ko po na ayaw niyang basa yung kamay niya bago tumira," Romeo explained Saturday afternoon after he received his MVP award at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"Mamatay man po ako pawis lang po iyon," he added, referring to his slick move that received negative comments from the UAAP fans particularly Lasallians.
Romeo said that it was his last resort to divert Teng's attention and it wasn't personal.
"Malinis po konsensya ko, pawis lang po talaga iyon at wala pong personalan."
The Cavite-native didn't mind the criticisms that he got from the style of game that he has.
"Hindi ko naman po sila masisisi," said Romeo who average 22.2 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists this year.
"Kanya-kanyang opinyon lang naman po iyon. Wala po sakin 'yon, doon po sila masaya eh," he said.
