Now that Barangay Ginebra has some of the best talents in the league, it’s time for the team to prove its strength in the hardcourt.
Ginebra board representative Robert Non admitted having already assembled a formidable lineup following the acquisition of top pick Greg Slaughter, No. 4 pick James Forrester, JayR Reyes and Emman Monfort.
Now, the team will have to work on its chemistry to become a force in the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup, which opens on Sunday.
“Yes, lumakas kami. But as of now, it’s just on paper. With only three players from the old group, we’re a work in progress. Kailangan pa ng team mag-gel,” Non said in the PBA website, referring to holdovers Mark Caguioa, Jayjay Helterbrand and Billy Mamaril.
But Non said the team's management like its chances in the Philippine Cup after practically all the PBA officials labeled Ginebra as the best bet in the coming conference.
“Gusto namin 'yan, kami ang paborito… kami ang paborito ng fans,” said Non.
