Brooklyn Nets center Andray Blatche is looking forward to the opportunity to help the Philippine national basketball team in the FIBA World Cup in Spain.
“I am excited,” Blatche said in an interview with Julius Romero of NBA Philippines. “This is something new.”
“It is a blessing for this opportunity. Hopefully, I can share my talent in helping the Philippines,” he added.
The Philippine Congress has already approved the bill for Blatche’s naturalization, with the Senate set to tackle its own version of the bill as well.
With Gilas set to compete in the FIBA World Cup in September, Blatche told NBA Philippines that he is ready to play for the team after he completes his duties with the Nets, and resolves his free agency in the off-season.
The Nets currently have a 42-34 record in the Eastern Conference, and have already clinched a playoff spot.
