Manny Pacquiao: "My journey in boxing will continue"

After a decisive victory over Timothy Bradley on Sunday, Filipino fight icon Manny Pacquiao did more than just regain the WBO welterweight title he lost to the American fighter two years ago.
“I proved tonight that my journey in boxing will continue,” said Pacquiao, who left little doubt with a masterful unanimous decision victory.

“Thank God for the victory.”

With the win, Pacquiao quelled — at least for now — murmurs about him needing to retire. Boxing observers have wondered whether his other activities — including his work as a congressman in the Philippines — was affecting his performance in the ring, while Bradley himself questioned Pacquiao’s fire before their second fight.

There was also the pair of losses Pacquiao suffered in 2012, the first a controversial decision against Bradley and the second a brutal knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez.

But Pacquiao has slowly gotten his ring career back on track, with the win over Bradley coming at the heels of another impressive victory last November against American banger Brandon Rios.

“I’m very happy because I’m not discouraged by my loss to Marquez,” said Pacquiao.

With the Bradley challenge hurdled, Pacquiao was asked whether he would be willing to fight his nemesis Marquez for a fifth time.

“There’s no problem to me, it depends on my promoter Bob Arum,” said Pacquiao, who added that he won’t be hanging up his gloves anytime soon.

“A couple of more years, I can still fight.”
