The Batang Gilas, Philippine national under-17 basketball team, lost to a taller, bigger Greek team, 85-65, and dropped its second consecutive game in the FIBA Under-17 World Championships Saturday night in Dubai.
Jolo Mendoza scored 19 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Batang Gilas, who were only down 17-25 at the end of the opening frame, but were outscored 21-9 in the second period. Greece pulled away completely after out-scoring the Philippines, 17-7, in the third period to take a 63-33 lead entering the final quarter.

Batang Gilas lost to Angola, 82-72, in their first game of the competition.
Antonis Pefanis led Greece with 26 points, four rebounds, and two assists. It was the Greeks' first win after losing their tournament opener to the United States.
