GlobalPort won't look anywhere else as the Batang Pier will definitely lock up spitfire guard Stanley Pringle as the top pick in the 2014 PBA Rookie Draft, said coach Pido Jarencio.
"Yup, siya na yung first pick namin," Jarencio told Sports Desk Tuesday while watching the second batch of the PBA rookie hopefuls strut their wares during Day 2 of the Draft Combine.
Jarencio also added that there are no longer issues involving Pringle's desired salary. "Wala na yung mga issues."
With everything already set in stone, the only remaining question is how the guard out of Penn State University and ball-dominant Terrence Romeo will co-exist. But Jarencio has it all figured out already, confident that the two will make a deadly duo inside the court.
"Oo naman (the two will gel well)," said the former Univeristy of Santo Tomas mentor, who revealed that Pringle will most likely play the back-up role to veteran guard Alex Cabagnot.
"Romeo will play 2 (shooting guard), (Pringle) will play 1 (point guard)."
Jarencio said Pringle already met with the team. Now he can only hope that everything will work out just fine for his bealeagured Globalport which is hell-bent on propping up its sagging fortunes.
Pringle was present Tuesday at the Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong, but the sure-fire no. 1 overall pick didn't do much as he only scored four points in 11 minutes of action during a scrimmage.
The rookie draft is set on Sunday, August 24, at Robinson's Ermita. — Sports Desk
