Ranidel De Ocampo came closest with nine points while Gabe Norwood added seven. Jimmy Alapag and Jeff Chan each hit two three-pointers for six points.

Gilas point guard Jayson Castro, who had to undergo an MRI on Wednesday after suffering an injury in their previous game, was back on the court for this one, playing 15 minutes but only scoring two points.

The Filipinos finished the first quarter tied at 17-all and even took a nine-point lead in the second period before a big 26-8 run from Angola changed the complexion of the game.

The African champs entered the halftime break leading, 43-34.

In the third, Gilas battled back to within five, 53-48, but a strong finish from Angola pushed the lead to double figures, 64-50, heading into the fourth.

The Philippines then scored nine consecutive points to open the final period, cutting the deficit back down to a manageable five points, 64-59.

But Angola countered with an 8-0 run before pushing the lead to as high as 15 points, 76-61, in the fourth.
