Will Manny Pacquiao play on PBA opening day?

Eight-division boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is still unsure if he is going to suit up when KIA Motors makes its Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) debut on October 19.
KIA is scheduled to tangle with fellow expansion team Blackwater Elite on opening day and Pacquiao is raring to go into action.
But the playing coach is thinking it over as his training for the Chris Algieri fight has already started.

"I am excited sa opening ng PBA sa October 19. People ask me to play on the opening, let me see. Kasi start na training ko," the boxing superstar told Philboxing’s Robbie Pangilinan.

He added that his boxing coach Freddie Roach will soon be arriving to formally kick off their training camp.

Pacquiao has been keeping himself in decent shape by consistently working out his core. "Daily ginagawa ko is 2,100 sit-ups, 300 push-ups. Morning and afternoon. Pag nag-start na training I think more than that pa," he said.

"Pero excited akong maglaro, madaming fans eh. Two hundred buses iikot para maisakay 'yung mga fans going to Philippine Arena sa Bulacan," he noted.

KIA team manager Eric Pineda earlier said Pacquiao will play and coach on opening day against Blackwater Sports. If that happens, it will mark the first time an active boxer will play professional basketball.

Pacquiao became the oldest, shortest and first dual athlete in the PBA after he was drafted by KIA in last month's PBA rookie draft.
