Sorry to break the hearts of PBA fans, especially Barangay Ginebra supporters, but the phenomenal Yaya Dub won’t be around as muse for any team when the league kicks off its new season in October.
Malou Choa-Fagar of TAPE Inc., producer of the long-time no. 1 noontime show Eat! Bulaga, made the confirmation on Friday as reported by Spin.ph’s sister website Pep.ph.
The snub came after several teams expressed interest in having one-half of the famed AlDub love team to be its muse when Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league opens shop on Oct. 18 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Barangay Ginebra supporters have been clamoring as early as two weeks ago for management to tap the so-called ‘Dubmash Queen’, or Maine Mendoza in real life, as muse of the Kings in the league opener two months from now, a suggestion chairman Robert Non of San Miguel and Ginebra alternate governor Alfrancis Chua said they will bring up to the company’s marketing management.
But boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, playing-coach of Mahindra, had also shown interest on having Yaya Dub as the Enforcers’ muse on opening night, coursing his request through Senator Tito Sotto, one of the original hosts of Eat Bulaga.
