Tickets to the NBA preseason game at the SM Mall of Asia Arena between the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers won’t come cheap, with top seats going for as much as P32,300 and nosebleed sections to be sold for P550.
Premium B seats will be sold for P27,000, Section C for P8,400, and Section D for P4,200. Despite the astronomical prices, officials think the game will be sold out.
NBA Philippines head Carlo Singson told InterAKTV that they expect fans to get their tickets early.
“Tickets will be made available on June 16 and majority of the tickets will be made available to the public,” he said.
“We have no plans yet for fans who would come at the last minute and want to purchase tickets. Knowing Filipinos, there are a lot who love to come in at the last minute.”
National University athletic director Junel Baculi thinks that the recent success of the Pacers will make them a bigger draw for Filipino fans.
The Pacers have reached the Eastern Conference finals this season, battling the defending champion Miami Heat featuring superstars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.
“[They] have entered the consciousness of Filipino basketball fans. I believe they could be a big draw,” said Baculi.
“I think the game has a marketing appeal. Aside from the Pacers, the Rockets also have a big following here because of Jeremy Lin and James Harden.”
Harden was among several NBA stars who played a pair of exhibition games in the Philippines during the lockout in 2011, joining Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, and Chris Paul among others.
The Pacers-Rockets game is set on October 10, with tickets going on sale on June 16.
