Former UFC light-heavyweight champion “Suga” Rashad Evans ended a two-fight losing streak with a razor-thin split decision victory over veteran Dan "Hendo" Henderson in the main event of UFC 161 Saturday in Winnipeg, Canada (Sunday morning in Manila).

Evans bucked a poor start and finished strongly in the third frame to grab the win, 29-28, 28-29, and 29-28. It was Evans' first victory since January 2012 after having lost consecutive bouts to reigning champion Jon "Bones" Jones and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

The two fighters exchanged blows in the first round, but it was Hendo who stole the frame by landing a jab that sent “Suga” to the canvas. Henderson tried to end the fight there, but Evans was able to survive despite being on wobbly legs for the rest of the round.

It was Henderson's second consecutive loss after also dropping a split decision to Lyoto Machida at UFC 157 in February.
