Floyd Mayweather Jr. dominated Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez to wrest the WBC and WBA Jr. Middleweight titles on Saturday night, September 14 (Sunday, September 15 in Manila) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, United States.
The American fighter displayed his superior boxing skills from start to finish to run away with a Majority Decision and improve his record to 45-0 with 26 KOs.
The more aggressive Mayweather connected on 232 punches while Alvarez only landed 117.
Judges Dave Moretti and Craig Metcalfe scored it 116-112 and 117-11 for Mayweather while CJ Ross surprised everyone by calling it 114-114.
Meanwhile, Alvarez, the Mexican touted to give Mayweather a tough time, failed to pump the action up to fall to his first defeat and get a blemish on his now 42-1-1 record with 30 KOs.
