This time they are bringing back the name “Purefoods” and relive the franchise's legendary years in the 1980s and 1990s.
James Yap and the rest of Tim Cone’s wards will be called Purefoods Star Hotshots when the 40th PBA season begins on Sunday.

"Gusto ko nga 'yun eh. Kasi dun ako sa Purefoods nagsimula," Yap said in Snow Badua’s Spin.ph report.

He added that fans have long been clamoring for the team to revert to its old name, which was replaced when the team's management chose to name the team B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados in 2010.

"Marami rin talaga naghihintay na maibalik ang Purefoods. Kaya I'm sure matutuwa rito ang mga fans," said Yap.

The franchise started out as the Purefoods Hotdogs when it joined the league in 1988 up until 2010. It temporarily carried the name B-Meg for three years before it was again changed to San Mig Coffee Mixers in 2012.
