Kobe Paras 'Potentially an NBA prospect' says Draft scouting website

After his performance at the 2015 Adidas Global Nations camp (WATCH KOBE PARAS HIGHLIGHT VIDEOS HERE), Kobe Paras captured the eye of a NBA scouting website as one of the top wing prospects for high school classes 2016 and 2017.

Mike Schmitz, a video scout for Draft Express, included the 17-year-old Filipino cager as one of the standouts during the training camp.

In his scouting report, Schmitz noted Paras' his 6-foot-7 frame and sweet shooting stroke as two of his strengths as a budding basketball player.

In 21 Adidas event games, the son of PBA legend Benjie Paras shot 37 percent from deep and 71 percent from the free throw line.

The scout also saw the younger Paras' potential to be a "versatile all-around player," as he also has the athleticism to jam the ball hard at the basket.

"He has the physical profile, athleticism and shooting ability of a high-major wing, and potentially a NBA prospect," Schmitz said.

He added, however, that Paras has to improve on his team play, ball handling, physical toughness, and defense.

"[He is an] average passer who has room to improve on his feel for the game," he said. "Almost always looking to score. Loves to isolate and force up off balance jumpers."

Paras, who moved to the US two years ago to pursue his NBA dream, currently attends Los Angeles Cathedral and has committed to play for the UCLA Bruins.

Schmitz warned that Bruins coach Steve Alford could grow strict toward the teen due to his habits, but said that Paras could go a long way if he learns to be a team player.

"He has a chance to be a high-level player in the Pac-12 and set himself up for a successful future beyond the college ranks, possibly in the NBA depending on how his skill-set evolves," he said.
