Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul turned Houston's Toyota Center into his own personal playground as he powered the Western Conference to a 143-138 victory over the Eastern Conference in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game Sunday (Monday in Manila).

Paul showed off his dribbling skills and court vision on his way to a 20-point, 15-assist, four-steal performance that allowed him to win the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player trophy for the first time in his career.

"I just never expected something like this. All these great players I have an opportunity to play with, it's an honor and a privilege," said Paul.

Watch 2013 NBA All Star Slam Dunk Contest Full Replay Video

This 2013 NBA All Star Slamdunk Contest was supposed to have a real high level, and started very good with the first three East dunks. Later Kenneth Faried and Eric Bledsoe needed a lot of attempts to finish easy dunks, and in their second dunks both James White and Gerald Green (two of the favorites) wasted 90+ seconds without any success.

Terrence Ross deserved to be the winner (thanks to fan voting) with four slam dunks full of athletic exhibition. Jeremy Evans is a deserving finalist who almost repeated champion title.

Barangay Ginebra to change its Import Herbert Hill ?

Perennial crowd favorites Barangay Ginebra San Miguel may be the first team this conference to change imports after Herbert Hill had an underwhelming debut in the Commissioner’s Cup.

In a report on the PBA website, Snow Badua said Ginebra is looking at five different players to replace Hill, who scored 17 points in the Kings’ 70-74 loss to Air21 last February 10.

In his column for The Philippine Star Tuesday, Joaquin Henson speculated that Hill may be the import “with the least chance of surviving” in the ongoing conference.

Pope Benedict XVI to step down on February 28

Pope Benedict XVI on Monday, February 11, announced he will resign on February 28, a Vatican spokesman told AFP, which will make him the first pope to do so in centuries.

"The Pope announced that he will leave his ministry at 8:00 pm (1900 GMT) on February 28," said the spokesman, Federico Lombardi.

In a message, the Pope cited health reasons for stepping down. "After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry," he said.

Dubai Basketball Tournament 2013: Smart Gilas Philippines vs Mouttahed Tripoli Full Video Replay

The Philippine national team Smart Gilas stormed back from a 0-11 start to the game and then came up with plucky defensive play on the very last possession, to steal a 79-77 win over Mouttahed Tripoli, Friday (early Saturday, PHL time) at the Al Ahli gym in Dubai, in their first assignment of the Dubai Invitational Basketball tournament.

The national squad, comprised mostly of newcomers from the cadet team, started out shakily, conceding an 11-0 start to the Lebanese team, but they eventually found their groove, snatching a 41-40 lead at the break thanks to some hot shooting by Meralco Bolt Ronjay Buenafe, who scored 10 by the break.
