Manny Pacquiao's one-sided demolition of American Chris Algieri should have been stopped in the ninth round, analysts said a day after the "Pacman" won a unanimous decision and handed Algieri his first professional loss.

Pacquiao dropped Algieri twice in the ninth round, first when he connected on a left cross that put the American on his back, and again shortly after when Algieri had to take a knee against a barrage of punches from the Filipino.

Not only did Manny Pacquiao topple Chris Algieri six times, he also outworked Long Island’s favorite son by more than 120 punches.

Compubox stats showed that Pacquiao was the busier fighter during his WBO welterweight title defense against Algieri in Macau.

The Purefoods Star Hotshots got a big lift from backup center Yousef Taha, who made big plays in the fourth quarter, as they escaped with a tight 77-74 win over Meralco at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

Taha made several big plays in the last four minutes, scoring on three consecutive baskets and playing a key role defensively as he sparked an 11-2 run that turned a one-point deficit into an eight-point lead, 77-69, inside the final minute.

Manny Pacquiao won a lopsided decision over a badly outclassed Chris Algieri on Sunday after his best performance in the square ring since suffering two stunning losses in 2012. 

Pacquiao, 35, was in vintage form infront of a sellout crowd at the Cotai Arena, knocking Algieri down six times on the way to a lopsided unanimous decision victory to retain his WBO welterweight title.

As predicted by many, Manny Pacquiao absolutely dominated Chris Algieri in the ring knocking down the American boxer several times en route to win by unanimous decision (119-103, 119-103, 120-102) on Sunday, November 23, at the Cotai Arena in Macau.

Manny Pacquiao knocked down Algieri a total of 6 times throughout the fight.
