The 2015–2016 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup, also known as the 2015–16 SmartBRO-PBA Philippine Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the first conference of the 2015–16 PBA season. The tournament started on October 21, 2015 and will be finished by January 2016. The tournament does not allow teams to hire foreign players or imports.

Alaska overcomes San Miguel despite Fajardo's 43-point explosion (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
Alaska Milk foiled San Miguel's attempt to claim an automatic semifinals berth with a pulsating 103-97 win in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday.
Despite June Mar Fajardo exploding with 43 points and hauling 20 boards, the Aces carved out a victory through the efforts of Vic Manuel, Calvin Abueva, Jayvee Casio, and Cyrus Baguio in the end game.

PBA: Barangay Ginebra overhauls 22-point deficit, beats NLEX (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
The Barangay Ginebra Kings went to their second unit to overcome a huge deficit against the NLEX Road Warriors and hack out a gutsy 91-90 victory in the 2015 PBA Philippine Cup Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Gin Kings trailed by as much as 22 points in the third quarter, struggling to defend NLEX in transition and in the half court, but buoyed by a vocal weekend crowd at the Big Dome, they roared back in the final quarter to claim their sixth win of the conference.

PBA Philippine Cup 2015-2016. Barangay Ginebra Kings defeated Mahindra Enforcers, 80-76 on November 22, 2015. It took a long while, but it seems like Barangay Ginebra is finally figuring things out.
The Kings notched their first back-to-back wins in two conferences after downing Mahindra, 80-76, Sunday in the 2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup at Ynares Center in Antipolo.

SBP to bid for hosting of Olympic qualifier after PBA commits best players to Gilas Pilipinas
FINALLY getting the players it desired, the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is out to seek the next best thing to do – bid to stage one of the three Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT) here in 2016.
Meralco board of governor Al Panlilio said the country’s governing body for basketball will discuss the possibility of hosting one of the qualifiers now that the PBA board has acceded to the SBP’s request to make the best talent available for the Gilas Pilipinas pool.
PBA adjusts, gives way to Gilas Pilipinas’ participation in Olympic qualifier
The PBA on Wednesday agreed to make changes to its calendar to accommodate the Philippine national men’s basketball team in its quest to bring the country back to Olympics.
The league announced that its season-ending conference, the Governors’ Cup, will be moved after the conclusion of the 2016 FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament that is slated from July 5 to July 11 next year.

SBP says Gilas Pilipinas needs 'full PBA backing'
If the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) can ensure its full support, then the new Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) leadership may send a Philippine team to the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament next year.
Outgoing SBP president Manny Pangilinan admitted that they have been reluctant to send an undermanned squad to compete in the Olympic qualifier next year, especially after the PBA failed to provide all the players the national squad needed during the recent FIBA Asia Championship.
“Hindi ko naman sinasabing 'no' pero let’s be realistic,” said Pangilinan in Reuben Terreado’s report in SPIN.

Moala Tautuaa, Troy Rosario sign maximum rookie deals ahead of Jones Cup
This year’s top two rookie picks Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario joined the PBA millionaire’s club on Thursday with rookie maximum deals with Talk ‘N Text.
On Tuesday, the 6-foot-6 Rosario, originally selected by Mahindra (formerly KIA) as the no. 2 overall draft pick, was shipped to Talk ‘N Text as part of the three-team, five-player deal.

Marc Pingris trade rumors started after rejoining Gilas Pilipinas team
STAR forward Marc Pingris admitted he is aware that trade speculations have started to swirl, shortly after he got the go-signal to rejoin the Gilas Pilipinas pool ahead of the FIBA Asia championship.
Pingris has long been an 'untouchable' in a Star team he helped lead to six PBA championships including a grand slam in 2014, but rumors have persisted that he's no longer on the 'protected list' since rejoining Gilas.

Tim Cone sees Scottie Thompson as 'the future' of Barangay Ginebra
University of Perpetual Help's do-it-all guard Scottie Thompson was simply "too good to pass up" in the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft, according to Ginebra head coach Tim Cone who selected the Alta with the fifth pick.
Thompson, the NCAA Season 90 Most Valuable Player who has led the Altas to a 7-2 record so far in the tournament, was showered with cheers by the crowd at the Robinson's Place Manila when his name was called on Sunday.

Moala Tautuaa, Troy Rosario expected to be no-show in PBA Draft
Top prospects Moala Tautuaa and Troy Rosario will not be around when their names are called in the PBA Rookie Draft, and will also miss out on the chance to show off their athleticism in the PBA Draft Combine.
Tautuaa and Rosario, pegged to be the first two picks in Sunday's Rookie Draft, joined the Gilas Pilipinas national team when they left for Estonia on Monday night for a training camp ahead of its campaign in the FIBA Asia Championship.

Tim Cone is new Barangay Ginebra coach
The winningest coach in the history of the PBA will try to end the most popular team's championship drought as Tim Cone is reportedly set to move to Barangay Ginebra.
Sports website Spin.ph quoted San Miguel Corp. boss Ramon S. Ang himself, who confirmed that Cone is moving to Ginebra after four seasons in charge of the Purefoods franchise.
"Yes, Tim Cone is moving to Ginebra. He'll get his memo upon his return from the country," Ang told the sports website.

Justin Melton's blindfolded slam dunk fail goes viral (VIDEO)
Just like that, the failed slam attempt of Justin Melton at the PBA All-Star Slam Dunk contest sent the foreign media abuzz.
Melton, last year's co-champion, tried to pull off a windmill dunk after he was blindfolded by Purefoods teammate Joe Devance.
