Fil-Aussie Jason Day wins PGA Championship
Filipino-Australian Jason Day held his nerve to end five years of close calls at the majors with an emotional breakthrough victory by three shots over American Jordan Spieth at the PGA Championship on Sunday.
World number five Day, two ahead of Spieth overnight, never relinquished his lead as he closed with a five-under-par 67 on a blustery afternoon of hazy sunshine at Whistling Straits to post a major record low of 20-under 268.

LA Tenorio skips Gilas Pilipinas for Barangay Ginebra
Barangay Ginebra point guard LA Tenorio hopes his sacrifice of not joining the Gilas Pilipinas national team for its campaign in the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship will pay dividends once the PBA season rolls around.
Tenorio was a key part of the national team that competed in the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship and the 2014 FIBA World Cup, but he decided not to play this year, citing fatigue and poor form.

Kobe Paras won’t turn down Gilas Pilipinas call
UCLA-bound Kobe Paras said the other day he will stand ready and proud to represent the country if ever called to join Gilas but at the moment, his focus is to finish his last year of high school at Cathedral College in Los Angeles.
Paras, 17, said since moving to Cathedral last year, he has bulked up from 160 to 205 pounds without compromising his speed and mobility.
Gilas Pilipinas ready to accept Pingris’ withdrawal; But still open for June Mar Fajardo
Marc Pingris’ agent, Ed Ponceja explained why Pingris decided to skip participating in the Gilas program, (READ: Marc Pingris unavailable for Gilas Pilipinas) which is gearing up for the FIBA Asia, an Olympic qualifying tournament, to be held in China from September 23 to October 3.
“Bago pa lang kasi yung coach ng Star medyo naghahabol pa sila sa gagawin. Baka nga mag twice-a-day practice pa sila so hindi na kakayanin ni Ping yung oras,” Ponceja said.
