Alaska overcomes San Miguel despite Fajardo's 43-point explosion (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
Alaska Milk foiled San Miguel's attempt to claim an automatic semifinals berth with a pulsating 103-97 win in the PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday.
Despite June Mar Fajardo exploding with 43 points and hauling 20 boards, the Aces carved out a victory through the efforts of Vic Manuel, Calvin Abueva, Jayvee Casio, and Cyrus Baguio in the end game.

The return of the Giant: June Mar Fajardo excited in his Gilas Pilipinas comeback
June Mar Fajardo was grinning from ear to ear as he made his triumphant return to Gilas Pilipinas.
The 25-year-old Fajardo is rejoining Gilas for the first time since being part of the national side during the 2013 Fiba-Asia men’s championships in Manila and the Fiba World Cup in Spain last year.

Gilas Pilipinas began their road to the Olympics anew with perfect attendance at their first practice on Monday night at Meralco Gym in Pasig City.
June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter, Japeth Aguilar, Marc Pingris, Ian Sangalang, Troy Rosario, Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Gabe Norwood, Marcio Lassiter, Jeff Chan, Ryan Reyes, Jayson Castro, Terrence Romeo, and LA Tenorio all arrived early for warm-ups.

Gilas Pilipinas needs June Mar Fajardo says NBA Scout
NBA scout Jim Kelly, once a part of the coaching staff of Presto/Great Taste during the early 1990s, remains to keep an eye on Philippine basketball despite his work for the Dallas Mavericks.
That’s why during one of his visits to the practices of Gilas Pilipinas, he quickly noticed one player missing from the team: reigning back-to-back PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo.

Gilas Pilipinas ready to accept Pingris’ withdrawal; But still open for June Mar Fajardo
Marc Pingris’ agent, Ed Ponceja explained why Pingris decided to skip participating in the Gilas program, (READ: Marc Pingris unavailable for Gilas Pilipinas) which is gearing up for the FIBA Asia, an Olympic qualifying tournament, to be held in China from September 23 to October 3.
“Bago pa lang kasi yung coach ng Star medyo naghahabol pa sila sa gagawin. Baka nga mag twice-a-day practice pa sila so hindi na kakayanin ni Ping yung oras,” Ponceja said.

June Mar Fajardo is FIBA World Cup’s 2nd most ‘efficient’ player, behind Pau Gasol
Gilas Pilipinas, Philippine national men’s basketball team center June Mar Fajardo is the second most efficient player in the FIBA Basketball World Cup, according to RealGM.com, a website which provides advanced statistics to NBA teams.
Fajardo got a total of 44.92 Player Efficiency Rating (PER), just behind Spain’s Pau Gasol who had 48.66. The reigning PBA Most Valuable Player also ranked ahead of Slovenia’s Zoran Dragic (44.82), Team USA’s Anthony Davis (41.46) and Spain’s Serge Ibaka (41.41).

'June Mar Fajardo has potential to be like Marc Gasol'
Petron Blaze team consultant Todd Purves said he looks at improving June Mar Fajardo’s potential to have the same defensive acumen of Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol.
“(Fajardo's) a coachable kid so we work on him everyday,” Purves said in Richard Dy’s Spin.ph report. “He’s working real hard, he’s a wonderful kid and he’s easy to work with. I expect him to continue to get better.”
After a so-so performance in the early part of the 2012-2013 PBA season, the 7-foot-tall Cebuano has become a force inside the paint.

PETRON big man June Mar Fajardo hasn't faced top pick rival Greg Slaughter in a league game since they battled each other inside the court in Cebu four years ago.
Fajardo, however, is making sure he'll be ready the next time they meet.
The 6-foot-10 sophomore center admitted he has no firm grasp on how big Slaughter has improved since they squared off in the 2009 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Finals between University of Cebu and University of Visayas.

Calvin Abueva bested June Mar Fajardo for Rookie of the Year award
Alaska forward Calvin Abueva won Rookie of the Year honors in the PBA’s Leo Awards on Friday, beating out a late challenge from Petron Blaze center June Mar Fajardo.
The brash Alaska rookie, the second overall pick in last year’s draft, made an immediate impact with the Aces despite joining the team late to finish his stint with San Sebastian in the NCAA. Abueva sparked the Aces to a surprise run to the semifinals of the Philippine Cup.
He was instrumental for Alaska as the Aces marched to the finals of the Commissioner’s Cup, where they swept Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in three games to win their first title in the post-Tim Cone era.

June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter not yet ready for FIBA-Asia, says Rajko Toroman
PETRON rookie June Mar Fajardo and Ateneo center Greg Slaughter, two celebrated big men owing to their size and skill, are not yet ripe for big international events like the Fiba-Asia men’s championships, according to former national coach Rajko Toroman.
While insisting he was not trying to put down Smart Gilas 2.0 coach Chot Reyes’ efforts to beef up the national squad for next year’s Fiba Asia men’s in Beirut, Toroman said he believes Fajardo and Slaughter have a long way to go before they can hold their own against against Asia’s best big men.
