UAAP 76: La Salle outlasts FEU to clinch twice-to-beat advantage

De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers controlled the game from start to finish to beat Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws, 74-69, and move one win away from the UAAP 76 men's basketball finals on Saturday, September 21 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
UAAP 76: La Salle outlasts FEU to clinch twice-to-beat advantage
The Green Archers went on a 9-0 run in the first quarter to take the driver's seat and never let it go, as the Taft-based squad scored its 8th straight win and pulled ahead, 1-0, in a virtual best-of-three for the second finals slot.

With Jeron Teng and LA Revilla leading the sniping, La Salle built a 66-51 advantage with 7:43 left in the final period.

FEU climbed its way back into the game behind back-to-back triples by skipper Gryann Mendoza and a Roger Pogoy baseline jumper capped a 12-2 run that drew the Tamaraws within 5 at 68-63 with 1:19 remaining on the clock.

But Revilla struck the dagger with a 3-pointer with 55.1 seconds left to finally put FEU away and grab the second seed entering the Final 4.

Revilla fired 6 triples to finish with 20 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Season MVP Terrence Romeo led the Tamaraws with 22 points and 4 rebounds but that couldn't prevent his team from failing to get the coveted twice-to-beat advantage.

The Green Archers thus need to beat FEU just once more to advance to the UAAP Finals for the first time since Season 71.
