Petron's Elijah Millsap targets nothing less than championship

Elijah Millsap was hardly 100 percent in Petron’s last elimination round game on Sunday against GlobalPort.

Petron's Elijah Millsap targets nothing less than championship

“I’m not trying to make excuses, but for the past four, five days I’m under the weather,” Millsap told InterAKTV in an exclusive interview. “But I’ve got to come out and do the job. Personally, I got a lot of turnovers, but we got it done.”

Millsap scored just 18 points and committed 10 turnovers, but had 15 rebounds and 10 assists to help his team to its eighth straight victory.

“We’re playing together, playing defense. Our defense has really come along. We want to continue to improve and get better, execute offensively and start going on transition,” added Millsap.

Millsap is aware of his team’s championship tradition and he wants to take Petron all the way to the promised land.

“This team has a lot of expectations. Right now, we set a goal of settling for nothing but the championship,” said Millsap. “So right now, we’ve got to put it on our backs and deliver in the playoffs.”

Petron enters the playoffs as the No. 1 seed with an 8-1 win-loss record.

“Right now, I like the team’s chances. We just have to take it one game at a time in the quarterfinals, respect every team and try to put them away. Come semis, we’ll just have to see what happens,” said Millsap.
