Marcus Douthit to donate P500 to ‘Yolanda’ relief for every point
Marcus Douthit may not be a natural-born citizen of this country, but there’s no denying he’s got a Filipino heart.
The national team center announced on Twitter that he will make a cash donation for victims of super typhoon “Yolanda” for every point and rebound he registers when he suits up anew for the Philippine team in the Southeast Asian Games basketball tournament.
Douthit, who helped Gilas Pilipinas to a silver medal finish in last August’s FIBA Asia Championship, will banner a squad that also features Kiefer Ravena, Ray Parks, Kevin Alas, Matt Rosser Ganuelas, Ronald Pascual, Jake Pascual, Garvo Lanete, Kevin Ferrer, Rey Mark Belo, Jericho Cruz, and Prince Caperal.
The announcement of Douthit has spurred at least one fan to follow his lead.
Austin Torres @austintourist @DouthitMarcus I will donate P20 for every point you score in the tournament as well. Not as much but the best a student can give.
