After a slow start, Gilas shifted into high gear to turn an early deficit into a breakaway and beat Mongolia, 84-68, in the Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea Wednesday afternoon.
Gilas wound up seventh with the triumph, but still recorded the country's worst finish in the quadrennial meet.
Ranidel de Ocampo heated up in the first half, virtually carrying Gilas with all but 14 of his total output of 25 points.

Gabe Norwood put the icing on the victory cake with a follow up slam off June Mar Fajardo's miss.
