"Douthit suspension. Big break for us": Koreans trace Golden run on Marcus boo-boo

Top officials of the Korean Basketball League said the outcome of the 17th Asian Games men’s basketball competition could have been different if not for the suspension of Marcus Douthit in the Philippines-Korea game.
KBL commissioner Kim Young Ki and secretary general Jae Min Lee said it would have been very tough for the Koreans to beat Gilas Pilipinas if Douthit played.

2014 Asian Games host South Korea clinched the gold medal on their own home soil after outlasting mighty Iran, 79-77, to sweep the men’s basketball tournament in Incheon, Korea.

Daniel Caluag rules BMX; gives first gold medal of Team Philippines in 17th Asian Games

Daniel Caluag gave the country its first gold medal in the 17th Asian Games. Caluag met expectations on Wednesday when he ruled the men’s BMX race at the Ganghwa Asiad BMX Track located about two hours away from this Korean city to end the Philippines' gold medal drought in this year’s edition of the Asiad. 
Despite missing UCI-sanctioned events this year to concentrate on his studies, the London Olympian maintained his excellent form for the Asiad.

Asian Games 2014: Gilas Pilipinas vs China FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO

The Philippine national men’s basketball fell to Asian powerhouse China, 78-71, to slip down the 5th to 8th place classification round of the 2014 Asian Games basketball tournament on Monday in Incheon, Korea.
Gilas Pilipinas came back from 19 points down to come to within four in the final period but could not stop a late 8-0 run for China that sealed the contest.

Gilas Pilipinas vs Kazakhstan FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO - Asian Games 2014

Gilas Pilipinas' hopes of advancing to the medal round of the 2014 Asian Games were dashed despite beating Kazakhstan, 67-65, Sunday at the Hwaseong Sports Complex in Incheon.
Gilas needed to win the game by at least 11 points to at least have a chance of making it to the medal round, but a late flurry by Kazakhstan erased the Philippines' double-digit lead.

Gilas Pilipinas opens Asian Games tilt with strong showing vs India (VIDEO)

The Philippine national men’s basketball team got their gold medal bid underway with an 85-76 victory over Group B qualifiers India in its first game in the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, Korea.
With the win, Gilas Pilipinas formalized its entry into the quarterfinal round but can improve its position in their next preliminary round game against FIBA Asia Champions Iran on Thursday.

Andray Blatche disappointed over Asian Games ineligibility

Naturalized center Andray Blatche is disappointed over his ineligibility for the 2014 Asian Games, but Gilas Pilipinas head coach Chot Reyes expects the other members of the team to step up in his place.

"If you're on Twitter, you'll find out how disappointed he is," Reyes said of Blatche, who was a major part of the Philippines' historic run in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain.

SBP seeks FIBA help over Andray Blatche's eligibility issue

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has already sought the assistance of FIBA, the world's governing body in basketball, to help them clarify matters with the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) regarding Andray Blatche's eligibility for the upcoming Asian Games.

The OCA has reportedly questioned the Philippines' move to field the NBA player together with Gilas Pilipinas, citing their three-year residency rule on naturalized players.
