USA vs Greece 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship (FULL GAME REPLAY VIDEO)
DUBAI (FIBA U17 World Championship) - The two-time champions United States were tested but prevailed in their opener of the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship against Greece.
The USA were never seriously threatened in the second half in grabbing a 83-73 victory over Greece in Group A. Diamond Stone was top scorer for the Americans with 22 points while also picking up 10 rebounds and four blocks. Malik Newman added 12 points and Jayson Tatum had 10 points in the win. Vasileios Charalampopoulos led the Greeks with 17 points while Georgios Papagiannis had 16 points and 11 rebounds and Antonios Koniaris chipped in 15 points in the loss.
The Greeks trailed just 32-31 midway through the second quarter when the Americans went on a 13-2 run to break away. Greece would never get closer than eight points the rest of the way as USA had an answer any time the Europeans trimmed it to single digits.

Brazil, Finland, Greece, Turkey earn wildcard spot to FIBA World Cup
The cast is complete.
Brazil, Finland, Greece, and Turkey will be joining 20 other teams to complete the 24-team delegation in the FIBA World Cup slated from August 30 to September 14, 2014 in Spain.
The 4 countries earned the nod of the FIBA Central Board, emerging as the 4 awardees from 15 wildcard candidates on Saturday, February 1.

EuroBasket 2013: Greece stuns Marc Gasol's Spain (VIDEO)
Greece rallied with a big fourth quarter to beat defending champion Spain 79-75 on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) in the second round of the European basketball championship.
Trailing by five at the end of three quarters, Greece outscored Spain 27-18 in the fourth to gain a win that could prevent Spain from winning a third consecutive title.
