27th SEA Games Free Live Streaming, Schedule & Results

The 27th SEA Games will be hosted by Myanmar from 11 to 22 Dec 2013. The venue will be at the Capital Naypyitaw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach. With the supports of the ASEAN friends Myanmar has the opportunity to host the game again after 44 years.

Myanmar was the host for 1961, 2nd SEAP Game and 1969, 5 th SEAP Game. 2013 is a remarkable year for Myanmar as the main venue for the Games will be at her new State Capital Naypyitaw for the first time. Wunna Theikdi Stadium will be the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. Most of the major events will be held in Naypyitaw Sports Facilities.

NFL player carries PH flag to honor 'Yolanda' victims (VIDEO)

Seattle Seahawks receiver Doug Baldwin carried the Philippine flag onto Century Link Field on Sunday to honor the victims of super typhoon Yolanda.
According to the Seattle Times, Baldwin has family members living in the Philippines, including his grandmother.

News reports added that Baldwin’s relatives in the Philippines are okay but this didn't stop him from showing his support by carrying the country’s flag onto the field before Seattle’s win over the Minnesota Vikings.

Gilas Pilipinas coach Chot Reyes reveals SEA Games roster

Gilas Pilipinas head coach took to Twitter on Thursday to reveal what is likely the final roster for the men's basketball squad that will represent the Philippines in the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar, this December.

In his tweet, Reyes listed Gilas cadets Kevin Alas, Matt Roser, Garvo Lanete, and Jake Pascual as the core of the squad, along with naturalized center Marcus Douthit. To that five, he added collegiate standouts Kiefer Ravena (ADMU), Jericho Cruz (ADU), Bobby Ray Parks (NU), Kevin Ferrer (UST), Mac Belo (FEU), and Prince Caperal (AU).

Philippine Azkals retain Peace Cup crown; trump Pakistan

Stephen Schroeck led the Philippine Azkals as they climbed back from the brink of defeat to outclass Pakistan, 3-1, and retain the 2013 Philippine Football Peace Cup crown in Bacolod on Tuesday night.

The Azkals, who needed to score at least 3 goals and beat Pakistan, fell behind early in the match when Kaleem Ullah opened the scoring for the visitors in the 15th minute.

Patrick Reichelt equalized for the hosts in the 33rd minute through an assist from Schroeck.

Kobe Paras to miss FIBA U-17 World Championship

NATIONAL coach Jamike Jarin said on Saturday he plans to keep intact the Gilas youth team that finished second to China in the Fiba Asia Under-16 championships, leaving rising star Kobe Paras out of the loop ahead of the youngsters' stint in next year's world championships in Dubai.
Speaking just hours after the Gilas youngsters lost to China, 78-85, in the Under-16 final late Friday night, Jarin said he wants to reward the 12 players who played courageously and defied the odds in Tehran, Iran with a trip to the Under-17 world championships next year.

Philippines loss to China; secures Silver medal in FIBA Asia U-16

The Philippine national youth basketball team fell short in its gold medal quest, dropping an 85-78 result to China in the finals of the FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship on Friday in Tehran, Iran.
The Filipinos settled for the silver medal after battling gallantly against the much-taller Chinese, who were up by only four points, 59-55, heading into the final period.

MVP to reward Philippine youth team after qualifying for World Championship

Another Philippine national team has made the basketball-crazy country proud once more, after the youth squad entered the gold medal match of the FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship in Iran.

The team booked a ticket to the FIBA Under-17 World Championship in Dubai next year, marking a banner year for the Philippine basketball after Gilas Pilipinas earlier qualified for the Basketball World Cup last August.

For Manuel V. Pangilinan, the president of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, the success of the team is a testament to the effectiveness of the country’s basketball programs.

The Philippine national youth basketball team followed the path blazed by their senior counterparts after scoring a victory over Chinese Taipei, 77-72, in the semifinals of the FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship in Tehran, Iran on Thursday.

Ateneo high school gunner Jolo Mendoza had 28 points on four three-pointers, including a long bomb with 1:21 left that gave the Philippines back the lead for good.

Philippine U16 team destroys Iran; enters semis of FIBA Asia Championship

The Philippine national youth basketball team showed no fear against an Iranian squad playing in front of a home crowd, fashioning out an impressive 79-52 victory in the quarterfinals of the FIBA Asia Under-16 Championship on Wednesday in Tehran.

Ateneo high school stars Jolo Mendoza and Mike Nieto led the way with 16 and 13 points, respectively, for the Philippines, which saved the best for last by outscoring Iran, 22-6, in the final period.

With the win, the Filipinos booked a ticket to the semifinals of the competition, setting up a date with Chinese Taipei. The Taiwanese won earlier in the day against Bahrain, 70-67.

Philippine Under-16 team clinches top seed in FIBA Asia

The Philippines survived India’s torrid three-point shooting as it hacked out a 78-67 victory to clinch the top seeding in Group F and arrange a quarterfinal showdown with fancied Iran in the third FIBA-Asia Under-16 Championship in Tehran, Iran yesterday.

Hope Christian School’s Jolo Go exploded with a game-high 26 points, highlighted by six triples, as the Nationals forged a three-way tie with Japan and Chinese Taipei on 4-1 (win-loss) record. The Phl emerged the top team after the tiebreak.

Kiefer Ravena, Ray Parks are part of PH team bound for SEA Games

A total of 19 players have been invited by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) to comprise the pool from which members of the national team will be culled for the coming 27th Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar.

SBP executive director Sonny Barrios said head coach Jong Uichico along with deputies Nash Racela and Josh Reyes came up with the names of the players likely to comprise the squad out to defend the basketball title in the December 11-22 biennial meet.

Barrios said the country’s governing body for the sport will be submitting the names of all 19 players to the SEA Games Task Force either on October 8 or 9. The deadline for the submission of entry by names is October 10.

Miss Philippines Megan Young is Miss World 2013. In the coronation held Saturday, Sept 28, in Bali, Indonesia, the actress turned beauty queen bested 126 candidates from all over the globe, earning for the Philippines its first Miss World title.

Young, who placed first among the top 10 semifinalists also won in the Top Model challenge event and excelled in the Beach Fashion pre-pageant challenge, where she was among the 11 finalists.

In the question and answer portion where the candidates were given 30 seconds to tell the judges why they deserve the crown, Young expressed her belief in a "core value of humanity" which guides people's actions. She hopes to use this to show others how they may contribute to society.

The Philippines posted a clean slate in Day One of the Fiba 3x3 U18 World Championship by beating three opponents on Thursday in Jakarta.

World Cup of Pool: Philippines vs Holland Full Game Replay Video

The tandem of Dennis Orcullo and Lee Van Corteza ruled the World Cup of Pool Monday in London by beating Neils Feijen and Nick van den Berg of Holland, 10-8.
The Orcullo-Corteza partnership became the second Philippine team to win the prestigious double’s event after the legendary pair of Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante, who won the tournament twice, in 2006 and 2009. (read full story here)

The Philippines is planning and hoping to discover more Fil-foreign athletes to represent the country in next year’s Asian Games and the Youth Olympic Games.

FIBA Men's Ranking: Philippines ranked 7th in Asia; 35th in the world

FIBA released the latest men's ranking after the FIBA Africa Championship 2013. Philippines now ranked 7th in Asia surpassing Japan (Rank No.36) , Qatar (Rank No.43) and Chinese Taipei which falls to No.44 spot.


Meanwhile, despite upset in 2013 FIBA Asia Championship, China still the leader in Asia which ranked 12th in the world. Second in Asia is the 2013 FIBA Asia champion Iran which ranked 19th in the world.

FIBA 3x3 sports director Kosta Iliev of Bulgaria was so impressed by the showing of the undermanned Philippine team at the recent 2nd Asian Youth Games in Nanjing that he invited the teenaged boys to compete at the FIBA U-18 World Championships in Jakarta on Sept. 26-29.

But Iliev was told by team coach Nic Jorge that the Philippines had actually qualified for the World Championships by topping the FIBA-Asia joust in Bangkok last June. Representing the country in the Jakarta competition are Ateneo’s Thirdy Ravena, San Beda’s Arvin Tolentino and La Salle’s Kobe Paras and Prince Rivero with John Flores as coach.
