The 27th 2013 FIBA Africa Championship is played under the auspices of FIBA, the basketball sport governing body, and the African zone thereof. The tournament is being hosted by Ivory Coast from August 20 to 31

TOURNAMENT FORMAT:
The sixteen teams are split into four groups. Every team advances to the knockout stage and participates at the Round if 16. The winners will advance to the quarterfinals to play out the champion. The losers from those quarterfinals will play for the places 5–8. The defeated teams from the round of 16 will be ranked by their preliminary round results and play placement games for the places 9–16.
