Marquez Not Overly Impressed With Pacquiao's Win vs Rios

Former four division world champion Juan Manuel Márquez gave praise to Manny Pacquiao for his comeback victory on Saturday night, when the Filipino star won a dominating twelve round unanimous decision over Brandon Rios. It Pacquiao's first fight since getting knocked out in the sixth round of last December's fourth bout with Marquez.

The camp of Brandon Rios believes that the reign of Filipino boxing king Manny Pacquiao is over.

“Manny Pacquiao has had tremendous wins but it all comes to an end,” Rios’ coach Robert Garcia told ABS-CBN News’ Dyan Castillejo in Macau. “We feel Manny's time has come.”

“This is the last time you're going to see Manny Pacquiao in a pay per view fight because we're going to beat him,” Garcia boasted.

Roach's forecast: Manny Pacquiao to KO Brandon Rios in 6

Boxing trainer Freddie Roach believes Manny Pacquiao's training has gone well and predicted a knockout in six rounds against Brandon Rios.

Roach said Pacquiao’s 10-week preparation will bear fruit on November 24, when the Filipino superstar meets his foe from Lubbock, Texas.

“He’s well-prepared, razor-sharp as when he was still fighting for recognition, well-motivated,” Roach said in a Philboxing report by Eddie Alinea. “We’ll demolish [Rios] inside six rounds.”

Manny Pacquiao’s training camp is going so well such that Michael Koncz is pretty confident of the Filipino’s dominance over Brandon Rios on November 24.

Pacquiao’s adviser said that if the fighting congressman does what he's told in the fight, then Rios won’t be able to last long in the ring.

"The fans are going to be in for a fight, for a treat. If Manny sticks to the game plan, I truly don't believe the fight is going to go more than four or five rounds,” said Koncz in Boxing Scene.

Filipino fight icon Manny Pacquiao is dedicating his November 24 ring comeback to victims of super typhoon “Yolanda” that ravaged the Philippines last week.

Pacquiao will face dangerous Mexican-American fighter Brandon Rios in Macau in his first fight since being knocked out by rival Juan Manuel Marquez last year.

The fighter, who also serves as congressman of Sarangani province, said his training prevented him from personally getting involved in relief efforts.

A boastful Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios warned boxing trainer Freddie Roach to prepare his prized fighter Manny Pacquiao for a world of hurt that’s coming his way.

The Mexican-American told the media during his open training at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy in Oxnard that he won't be playing around when he squares off with the Filipino superstar on November 24.

Manny Pacquiao to retire if knocked out by Rios, says Roach

If Filipino boxing icon Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao gets knocked out by hard-hitting slugger Brandon "Bam Bam" Rios when they fight in November, then his career is over.


Pacquiao's trainer, Hall-of-Famer Freddie Roach, said so himself in an interview with Yahoo! Sports. 

"It's over, 100% (if Pacquiao is knocked out by Rios)," the respected trainer told Kevin Iole.

Brandon Rios fight make or break for Manny Pacquiao

The November 24 bout with Brandon Rios will either signal the resurgence or the end of Manny Pacquiao’s colorful boxing career, according to boxing coach Robert Garcia.


Garcia, who coaches Rios, said they expect Pacquiao to be at his best shape since the Filipino boxer is coming off two straight losses.

“Because [the Rios fight] is a make or break fight for him and if he loses he may retire. That’s why we know he’ll have the best preparation ever. We know Manny is a superstar and he’ll be better than ever,” he told Philboxing’s Ronnie Nathanielsz.
