Manny Pacquiao drops 35 notches in Forbes' powerful celeb list
Despite suffering a shocking loss to Juan Manuel Marquez last December, fighting congressman Manny Pacquiao remained among the world’s top 100 most powerful celebrities, according to business magazine Forbes.
The former world champion, however, suffered a slide in the list, dropping 45 notches from his No. 33 ranking last year.
According to Forbes’ 2013 Celebrity 100, the former world champion is now ranked No. 78 after suffering back-to-back losses to Timothy Bradley and Marquez in 2012.
Pacquiao, however, remains ahead of rival Floyd Mayweather Jr., who was ranked No. 88, as well as Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling (No. 82), actor Alec Balwin (No. 83) and actress Emma Stone (No. 83).
Media mogul Oprah Winfrey topped the list again as she led a female-dominated top 10 that includes singers Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Madonna, Taylor Swift and television host-standup comedian Ellen DeGeneres.
According to Forbes' Dorothy Pomerantz who compiled the list, the rankings were based on each celebrity’s presence in print, TV and the Internet as viewed by American consumers.
Here are Pacquiao's statistics based on Forbes’ list:
Pay: $34 million
Money rank: 57
TV/radio rank: 82
Press rank: 81
Marketability rank: 60
Social rank: 56
Roger Federer remained as the highest-ranked athlete in the Celebrity List, at No. 8, rising 23 notches from last year.
Other athletes who made it into the list were golfer Tiger Woods (No. 15), NBA player LeBron James (No. 16), football player David Beckham (No. 19) and NBA player Kobe Bryant (No. 24).
