Mac Belo drained a three at the buzzer to lift FEU past the DLSU Green Archers, 67-64, in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 77 men’s basketball tournament on Wednesday evening at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Belo scored 23 points, including the game-winning three, to help the Tamaraws advance to the finals.
Down 47-51 after the third quarter, La Salle went on a 6-0 run to open the payoff period. A three-point play from Arnold Van Postal and a triple from Julian Sargent gave the Archers a 59-55 lead but FEU countered with four straight points to tie it at 59-all, under 3 minutes left in the game.
On La Salle’s next possession, Jason Perkins scored on a drive to put them up, 61-59, 1:54 remaining in the game, but Inigo dropped in a floater to knot the score again. Teng came up empty on La Salle’s next trip and Belo drilled a three to give the Tamaraws a 64-61 edge with 1:05 left in the period.

In the ensuing plays, Perkins made a split from the line and Torres scored off a pass from Teng to tie the game at 64-all with 24.4 seconds remaining. But Belo knocked down a triple at the buzzer to give FEU the win.

The Tamaraws will face the NU Bulldogs in the finals which will start on Saturday, October 4 at Mall of Asia Arena.

FEU took a 42-37 lead in the first half behind Tolomia’s 10 points, which all came in the second quarter.
