Floyd Mayweather: "May 2nd. Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, let's do it."

American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. believes Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao is in a "very, very tight situation" which is why the "Pacman" is desperate to land a big money fight with the pound-for-pound king.
Floyd Mayweather: "May 2nd. Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, let's do it."
Mayweather finally and emphatically responded to Pacquiao's calls for him to "step up" Saturday, when the American said he "would love to fight" the Filipino legend and even set the date for May 2 next year.
Mayweather also repeatedly claimed that his team "tried to make the fight happen years ago," but negotiations fell apart because of Pacquiao's camp.

Now, the Filipino boxer is trying to make the fight after a series of losses, Mayweather noted.

"Now, he's in a very, very tight situation. He's lost to (Juan Manuel) Marquez, he's lost (Timothy) Bradley. (His) pay-per-view numbers are down extremely low, so he's desperate," Mayweather said.

Asked what motivated him to agree to a Pacquiao fight now, Mayweather said it was "a little bit of everything."

"I know that he's not on my level," said Mayweather. "The fans will love to see the fight, and of course, I wanna go out with a bang."

Mayweather called on Pacquiao's camp – specifically, the Filipino's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank – to come to the negotiating table.

"It's time for us to talk," he said. "We want the fight, we are ready. Let's make it happen, May 2nd. Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, let's do it."

But the American also unequivocally declared that if the fight was to happen, it will happen on his terms.

"Before, we tried to make the fight happen, and you guys didn't want to take the random blood and urine testing, so that's why the fight didn't happen," he said. "Then I offered you $40 million, and you didn't want to make the fight happen."

"You lost twice, now you're coming back begging for the same money. That's not gonna happen," he said.

In the same breath, he quickly added: "Let's make the fight happen for the people, and for the fans. Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, May 2nd. Cinco de Mayweather."
