POPE FRANCIS: Argentina's Bergoglio Named New Pope

Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina was elected in a surprise choice to be the new leader of the troubled Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, taking the name Francis and becoming the first non-European pontiff in nearly 1,300 years.


Pope Francis, 76, appeared on the central balcony of St. Peter's Basilica just over an hour after white smoke poured from a chimney on the roof of the Sistine Chapel to signal 115 cardinal electors had chosen him to lead the world's 1.2 billion Roman Catholics.

"Pray for me," the new pontiff, dressed in the white robes of a pope for the first time, urged the crowd, smiling warmly.

San Miguel Corporation re-evalutes participation in the PBA after Balkman's Lifetime Ban

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is re-evaluating its participation in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in the wake of the "choking incident" involving Petron Blaze import Renaldo Balkman.


According to a report on Spin.ph, SMC accepted the lifetime ban imposed on Balkman after his meltdown against the Alaska Aces last Friday that ended with him choking teammate Arwind Santos.

But the company also said it believes "the incident has been blown out of proportion, and has damaged our good name."

Watch UAAP Women's Volleyball Finals: Ateneo vs LaSalle Live Streaming

The highly-anticipated collegiate volleyball face-off commences this Saturday (March 2, 2013) and on Wednesday (March 5, 2013) at the Araneta Coliseum as round one of the best-of-three games of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 75 Women’s Volleyball Finals begins.

The La Salle-Ateneo rivalry heats up once more as the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers and Ateneo De Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles meet again to compete for the championship title after DLSU ruled last year and bagged its second consecutive win. ADMU is yet to win its first ever volleyball crown. DLSU wins the 1st game last saturday.

The Harlem Shake is the newest dance craze, and numerous videos have popped up on the Internet as everyone seems to have recorded his or her own version.


Now, “everyone” includes the reigning NBA champion Miami Heat, who took time out from shellacking their opponents to record this goofy video in their locker room.

When you’re the BA champions and on a 12-game winning streak, you can pretty much do anything you like.

2013 NBA All Star Game: West vs East Full Video Replay

Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul turned Houston's Toyota Center into his own personal playground as he powered the Western Conference to a 143-138 victory over the Eastern Conference in the 2013 NBA All-Star Game Sunday (Monday in Manila).


Paul showed off his dribbling skills and court vision on his way to a 20-point, 15-assist, four-steal performance that allowed him to win the NBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player trophy for the first time in his career.

"I just never expected something like this. All these great players I have an opportunity to play with, it's an honor and a privilege," said Paul.
