STAR forward Marc Pingris admitted he is aware that trade speculations have started to swirl, shortly after he got the go-signal to rejoin the Gilas Pilipinas pool ahead of the FIBA Asia championship.

SMC removes Noli Eala as sports operations head

San Miguel Corp. (SMC) on Thursday announced that executive Noli Eala will no longer be the company’s consultant for basketball operations.


In a statement, the company said Eala will be re-assigned to "help out in the company’s infrastructure businesses,” noting that his “managerial expertise and experience with various companies he handled in recent years will be very valuable in his new assignment.”

SMC Exec receives criticism after Alfrancis Chua resignation

San Miguel Corporation executive Noli Eala took to Twitter to address the criticism he has been receiving online regarding recent developments involving the conglomerate’s PBA teams.


“Certainly don’t appreciate all the hate I’m receiving, mostly unfair. Frankly, many haters are barking up the wrong tree. Still, life goes on,” said Eala.

San Miguel Corporation re-evalutes participation in the PBA after Balkman's Lifetime Ban

San Miguel Corporation (SMC) is re-evaluating its participation in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) in the wake of the "choking incident" involving Petron Blaze import Renaldo Balkman.


According to a report on Spin.ph, SMC accepted the lifetime ban imposed on Balkman after his meltdown against the Alaska Aces last Friday that ended with him choking teammate Arwind Santos.

But the company also said it believes "the incident has been blown out of proportion, and has damaged our good name."
