Andy Murray's U.S. Open title defense ended with barely a whimper as he crashed to a 6-4 6-3 6-2 defeat in the quarterfinals to ninth-seeded Swiss Stanislas Wawrinka on Thursday (Friday, PHL time).
The British third seed looked a shadow of the player who won Wimbledon two months ago, turning in a listless display against an opponent who sensed his weakness from the outset and went in for the kill.

Matt Bonner "Red Mamba" visits Philippines for NBA cares event
San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner will visit the Philippines to participate in an NBA Cares event as part of NBA Fit Week.
Bonner will help conduct a basketball clinic on Friday at Ronac Art Center in Greenhills, the same occasion where the league will announce its partnership with Sun Life Financial.

Undefeated American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will earn a guaranteed purse of $41.5 million for his September 14 showdown against Mexican champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, according to reports from Forbes and ESPN.
Mayweather’s adviser, Leonard Ellerbe, told ESPN and Forbes that the boxer is guaranteed the stunning amount, which shatters the previous record of $32 million, also set by Mayweather when he fought Miguel Cotto and Robert Guerrero.

PBA: Joe Devance to face heavy sanctions after video review of fight
SAN Mig Coffee forward Joe Devance faces heavy sanctions for his role in the melee that marred the Mixers' game against Globalport in the PBA Governors Cup on Wednesday night, sources said.
Devance escaped with a technical foul after the fracas that erupted in the third quarter of San Mig's 102-88 win at the Cuneta Astrodome, but league sources said video replays have established that it was his action that fanned the emotions in one of the worst fights seen in the league in years.
The Fil-American forward was the first to react upon seeing free-agent signing Marvin Hayes appear to kick San Mig import Marqus Blakely in the head as he stood up after the two fell to the floor during a rebound battle.

UFC: Glover Teixeira vs Ryan Bader Full Fight Replay Video
Ryan Bader rushed towards a standing Glover Teixeira after hurting him in their UFC Fight Night main event on Wednesday night, looking to put a finish to their light heavyweight fight.
Seconds later, the match was over. But not in the manner Bader probably anticipated. As Bader flung wild punches, Teixeira drilled Bader with a counter right and immediately followed with a crushing left hook to the chin. Bader crumpled to the mat, then Teixeira followed up with a dozen shots on the ground before referee Herb Dean stopped the fight.
