Matt Bonner "Red Mamba" visits Philippines for NBA cares event
San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner will visit the Philippines to participate in an NBA Cares event as part of NBA Fit Week.
Bonner will help conduct a basketball clinic on Friday at Ronac Art Center in Greenhills, the same occasion where the league will announce its partnership with Sun Life Financial.
He will then hold another clinic on Saturday, this time at the Mall of Asia Arena.
He will also be part of other NBA Fit activities on Sunday.
Known for his outside shooting and sense of humor, the redheaded Bonner got the nickname “Red Mamba” as a joke from Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant, the original “Black Mamba” of the NBA. Bonner has since embraced the tag, even coming up with a t-shirt to promote the nickname.
The events are part of the lead-up to the NBA Global Games, which will feature the first ever preseason game on Philippine soil between the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets in October.
