San Mig Coffee, TNT, Rain or Shine are coach Chot's top pick

All eyes may be on crowd favorite Barangay Ginebra, which has made vast improvements to its lineup, but former PBA coach Chot Reyes believes 3 other teams are more dangerous than the Gin Kings.

The current Gilas Pilipinas coach said among those teams that are likely to dominate the coming PBA Philippine Cup are Talk ‘N Text, Rain or Shine, and San Mig Coffee.

“Sa akin, lamang pa rin yong matagal ng magkakasama. There’s Talk n Text and Rain or Shine. San Mig is always tough with coach Tim Cone,” said Reyes in the PBA website.

Gilas Pilipinas re-signs Marcus Douthit for 2014 FIBA World Cup

Gilas Pilipinas has just signed Marcus Douthit to a contract-extension deal lasting up to September, assuring the PH team of a naturalized player in the 2014 FIBA World Cup in Spain and in the succeeding Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea.

National coach Chot Reyes, however, doesn’t rule out the possibility of tapping in another naturalized player.

“We’ve renewed his contract until the Asian Games, so he’s going to be there. Whether it’s him that we’ll eventually use, that depends on, No. 1, will we find somebody better than him and, No. 2, can we get him through the needed naturalization process,” said Reyes.

'With Manny Pacquiao's plan, Brandon Rios won't last 5 rounds'

Manny Pacquiao’s training camp is going so well such that Michael Koncz is pretty confident of the Filipino’s dominance over Brandon Rios on November 24.

Pacquiao’s adviser said that if the fighting congressman does what he's told in the fight, then Rios won’t be able to last long in the ring.

"The fans are going to be in for a fight, for a treat. If Manny sticks to the game plan, I truly don't believe the fight is going to go more than four or five rounds,” said Koncz in Boxing Scene.

PBA: 'Barangay Ginebra has to prove self in court'

Now that Barangay Ginebra has some of the best talents in the league, it’s time for the team to prove its strength in the hardcourt.

Ginebra board representative Robert Non admitted having already assembled a formidable lineup following the acquisition of top pick Greg Slaughter, No. 4 pick James Forrester, JayR Reyes and Emman Monfort.

Now, the team will have to work on its chemistry to become a force in the upcoming PBA Philippine Cup, which opens on Sunday.
